XML-HR is specifically devoted to helping HR Departments implement xml in the 'real world'. Practical Xml for Human Resources.
Our definition of the real world includes Companies that are not in the Fortune 500. The small and mid-sized firms that may have six or eight people in the HR Department, but more likely one.
That would be you. You may not have a full HRIS system and definitely do not have time to unravel XML. So what is it? Briefly, it is text that is specially formatted and by itself, it does nothing. We'll show you how to make it meaningful and accomplish specific tasks.
This site will point you to specific XML usage examples for HR Departments, along with demos. You will not only see how it is used, but also be able to test. It is for people that are not programmers.
Fortunate 500 companies have vast resources, along with rooms full of expert programmers.
Keep coming back. Soon, you'll know more than them. We're here to help you compete.
Every month, there will be more and all of it will be interesting (we'll try!) and informative.
The link (Feb 08) is the 1st, short installment.
A Simple Demo
What is below is an example of using xml. One of the items within the Demo is a simple 'Personalized Employee Benefit Statement' (Total Rewards Statement, Total Compensation Statement). This is a fairly common project for HR Departments of larger companies.
There are also several other items within the Demo, to include a Report, a drawing of an elephant, a simple 'brochure.
The Demo will load directly into your browser via your FlashPlayer. You will notice that you can move items, draw, type, set properties of your text and even change the size of the document. It acts as a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) XML Editor.
All of this is based on xml and was made by acompany that specializes in Communications for HR Departments, aptly named HR Communications.
